Wang Gang is one of China's most successful military strategists and strategist, he has played a major role in China's air power development. Wang Gang was born on August 17, 1944, in Jiangxi Province, China. He graduated from the People's Armed Forces Academy (PAFA) in 1968, where he received his degree in Strategic Studies.
In 1975, Wang Gang joined the PLA (People's Liberation Army) as a military intelligence officer. In 1982, he was promoted to the rank of Major General and became the director of the Military Intelligence Department at the PLA Central Military Commission. During this time, Wang Gang worked closely with other military leaders like General Zhou Yongzhong, General Chen Jintao, and General Li Zhiyuan, to develop the Chinese air force.
In 1996, Wang Gang returned to the field after serving as a military intelligence officer for several years. He then served as the director of the Strategic Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense. In 2001, he was appointed as the deputy commander of the PLA Air Force.
In 2004, Wang Gang led the formation of the new generation of Chinese air forces, which included the Long March-30 aircraft carrier, the Long March-10 tactical fighter, and the Long March-20 strategic bomber. These aircraft carriers were designed to provide the Chinese air force with greater flexibility and mobility.
In 2013, Wang Gang retired from active duty and took a leave of absence from the PLA Air Force. However, he continued to work closely with other military leaders and strategists in China's air power development.
In 2016, Wang Gang released a book titled "The Art of War: How to Win and Lose" which provided valuable insights into the art of war and how to use it to achieve victory. The book highlighted the importance of strategic thinking, planning, and execution in achieving success in warfare.
