  • As the Chinese football club Beijing Guoan announced on Tuesday, experienced forward Li Ke has decided to retire after ten years in professional football.

The move is a significant blow for the team and its fans, who have been eagerly waiting for this announcement. The 31-year-old Li had made his debut for Beijing Guoan back in 2007, playing for the club's youth teams before making his senior debut in 2009.

Since then, he has played a total of 166 games for the club, scoring 55 goals, including seven hat-tricks. He has also been involved in many successful campaigns at both club and national level, helping the team to win several domestic and international titles.

However, it was not without controversy when Li joined Guoan's youth academy in 2004. At that time, he was only 18 years old, but he quickly established himself as one of the club's most promising players. Despite his young age, however, he struggled with injuries throughout his career, which ultimately led to him being loaned out to various clubs during his time at the club.

In 2012, after suffering another injury, Li returned to Guoan's youth team, where he continued to make valuable contributions. However, he was unable to break through into the first team, and in 2014, he was released by the club due to poor performances.

After retiring from professional football, Li will continue to support the club through his social media accounts. He has also expressed his gratitude towards Guoan and its supporters, saying "I am very grateful to be able to play for such a great club and to be part of such a great team."
