In a statement released on Monday, Mitrović said: "I am proud to have been part of this incredible journey with AS Monaco, but it is time for me to move on to new challenges." He added: "The club has always treated me with great respect and I will always be grateful for everything they have done for me."
Mitrović joined Monaco in 1997 as a player and went on to become a manager, leading the team to four consecutive Ligue 1 titles between 2004 and 2007. He also helped the team reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2005 and the Europa League final in 2008.
